All of the plans for basic web hosting give you all you could ever want.
Features of HostGator include unlimited email accounts, unlimited bandwidth (how much information can travel to and from your website at once), and unlimited disk space on the basic $5 per month plan. Along with all of these features you get a free sitebuilder (which allows you to easily make a website with little to no knowledge of website creation), as many sub-domains as you could want , and tons and tons of website templates to chose from . The best feature is Fantastico which allows you to add tons of different software (like WordPress or Joombla) to your website with the click of a button.
All in all, HostGator gives you great bang-for-your-buck when it comes to bandwidth, email, space, and functionality. An amazing choice for a starter but has enough to expand if you want to.
GoDaddy is the second of the two websites I would recommend for somebody starting a website . Just as HostGator, GoDaddy offers great features for beginners. They also have very low prices, as low as $5 per month for web hosting on any domain name. What is great about GoDaddy is that they offer a discount the longer you sign up for . Given, it is a small discount but a discount nonetheless . The Basic Economy plan cost $5 a month and the unlimited plan goes up to $15 per month.
GoDaddy offers great features . They offer, on the middle plan, 150GB of space, 1,500 GB bandwidth, and 500 email accounts. This is definately enough for a starter website but unfortunately doesn’t offer too much room for expansion unless you want to upgrade. GoDaddy, like HostGator, has tons of addon applications like Joombla, WordPress, Frontpage, etc.
All in all, GoDaddy gives you a very good list of features and a cheap price for basic features, but doesn’t allow you to expand as easily as HostGator does.
And The Winner Is . . .
HostGator wins hands down . Both websites offer cheap prices and great features, but HostGator allows for much more expansion and therefore more potential in the long run . So if you have any aspirations to expand your business or blog, chose HostGator.

Learn More About The WordPress “Missed Schedule” Posts Problem
I have a number of blogs that contain future-dated posts. It’s a great way of queuing up a blog with content so you can set and forget the blog, safe in the knowledge that WordPress will do its thing as expected.
Until WordPress 2.9.x came along, that is…
Suddenly, some of the posts in my blogs started showing up as “Missed Schedule” instead of “Published”. Now, if you’ve not heard of this, it’s an incredibly annoying problem with WordPress where posts that are scheduled to be published don’t actually get published and instead get put into the “Missed Schedule” status.
There’s no quick way of converting “Missed Schedule” posts to “Published” – there’s no “Missed Schedule” option on the Edit Posts screen for example. All you can do is look for them on the Edit Posts screeen and do a Quick Edit on each post manually to switch its status. Not too much of an issue when you have just a couple of posts to fix. However, if you have a lot of posts on a lot of blogs, it would take forever to update them all.
The future-dated blogs I had on my Webhost4SEO account were affected. What I like about their hosting packages is that you get multiple Class C IP addresses with your hosting account (having multiple IP addresses means you can spread your sites around so if Google takes a dislike to one of them, they aren’t all tarred with the same brush). Disappointingly, I also found that my blogs on Hostgator were also suffering from the “Missed Schedule” post woes.
A bit of reseach has shown that the “Missed Schedule” posts problem affect more bloggers than I would have imagined. The first reports of it appearing were just after WordPress 2.7 was made available. If seems that in the rush to get WP 2.9.0 out, some bugs crept into the cron code. Supposedly, these were corrected in WP 2.9.1, yet people continue to suffer from the bug.
So there must be a fix for it, right?
Don’t hold your breath. WordPress themselves seem to be ignoring the issue completely and it’s fallen to the blogging community to come up with various fixes while waiting for the WordPress developers to fix the problem at source, once and for all.
I tried several fixes that are available and finally found a solution that worked for me. However, everyone’s case seems to be different. All the fixes I tried have worked for someone but not all fixes work for everyone. It’s a matter of trial and error in finding which one suits your setup. And your setup depends on what version of WordPress you’re using, what webhosting company you’re with, what kind of hosting package you have, and the capabilities of the webserver you’ve been assigned.
So prepare to get down and dirty with WordPress to fix blogs affected by “Missed Schedule” posts!
